Sonoma County Community Fast

On Monday, the 7th of December, citizens of Sonoma County, Santa Rosa, California, are planning a day-long Climate Justice Fast, where they will be donating the equivalent of the food missed to the Redwood Empire Food Bank Virtual Food Drive.

More information can be found on their facebook page

"While we bask in the abundance of our fall harvest, there are entire countries across the world that are in danger of disappearing under tidal waves, or of losing their inhabitants to a diaspora in search of water and food. December 7 is the first day of the Climate Summit in Copenhagen. Join me for just that 1 day in bringing about climate justice fast. Let's send the entire amount of the food we would normally eat that day to the Redwood Empire Food Bank.

"The purpose of fasting on this day and donating the equivalent of what we would normally eat to our local food bank is to call attention to the relationship between climate change and drought and famine going on worldwide. It is our way of supporting those in our own community who cannot obtain food on their own due to health concerns and poverty brought on at least in part by corporate greed."
