Jessie Wells
Jessie is fasting for one day in solidarity on 17 December.
"Climate justice is the world's most urgent and important issue, and this fast brings into focus the hunger that will afflict so many lives if we fail to act now.
It also enables us to express compassion for all those who are already experiencing hunger due to shifts in rainfall or seasons, and myriad other consequences of climate change.
The courage and commitment of the fasters, and the strength with which their message is reaching individuals, organisations and media around the world, has inspired me to join them for whatever length of time I can fast and still stay active.
I am a volunteer co-ordinator for a community development organisation, and a PhD researcher in rainforest ecology and regeneration."
