"I was born in Cuetzala del Progreso, Guerrero, Mexico. I came to the US in 1975. Cuetzala is a small town located in southern Mexico. Its green mountains, rivers and water springs sustains Cuetzala's residents with a rich supply of fruits and vegetables free for all to have. All you have to do is pick up as much or as little as you wish. We are known for one of the fruits that grow in the town called Mamey. Mameyeros=hijos/as del mamey.
Trees and butterflies are very important to me as i grew up with both in abundance. Here in US i work for the Women's Environmental Institute and its newly developed Phillips Environmental Justice Educationn and Advocay Collaboration (EJEAC) Project. I am the Project Coordinator/Community Organizer for the Phillips Environmental Steering Committee Initiative (PESCI), the community-based leadership group for the Phillips EJEAC. Our goal is to promote green jobs and environmental health in the Phillips Neighborhood.
We hope to create a CLEAN, GREEN Philliips. Climate Justice to me means we need to ACTION NOW! in order to restore balance by lifting some of the burden off the backs of the poor who are so negatively impacted by all these climate injustice in the world."
